Grammy-nominated artist Teddy Swims surprised students at Rolesville High School on Friday, taking the stage with his band to talk about music, mental health, and following your passion.
Ahead of their sold-out show at Raleigh’s Red Hat Amphitheater, the group shared how music changed their lives—and encouraged students to check in on friends and pursue what they love.
“No matter what, we’re always making sure we’re checking on each other,” Swims said. “That’s the most important thing in the world.”
The visit, organized with nonprofits Loyal to the Craft and Band Together NC, aimed to inspire students and spotlight creativity in music and beyond.
Senior Erin Mountain called the moment “so exciting,” saying, “He was so nice and welcoming. I told him I danced to his songs, and he said he couldn’t wait to see them.”
Swims closed with a message of resilience: “Don’t be afraid of failure. If you’re lucky enough to have a passion, pursue it at all costs.”
